Introduction: -
We
have different modes of transport for export and import. Train, Ocean Freight,
Trucks, Flights are some of the major modes of transport. But do you know out
of that approx 90 percent world trade happen through ocean or sea mode of
transport? Yes, the majority of imports and exports happen through this mode.
Ports are the points that handle the inflow and outflow of goods. The presence
of big ports in any country helps in economic growth too. Here we are
discussing the world’s five best ports.
1. Port of Singapore: -
Singapore is a small country in respect of population and area but
its port is one of the biggest in the world. It handled approx 35 million
trades in 2018. It is also a hub of various offshore activities like buying umbilical
offshore and electric anchor winch. Sailors from all over the world come
and halt here for various repair work too. From 2005 to 2010, this was the
busiest port in the world. Its connectivity with more than 500 other ports of
the world makes it one of the most connected ports. It also has an automated
container terminal for faster loading and unloading of goods. It is very old
and its history can be traced back to 1819.
2. Port of Shanghai, China: -
Located in the important city of Shanghai, China, this
port is called a development engine for china. We all know that for the last 20
years, China is among the countries with a high percentage of growth. In 2016,
more than 35 million TEUs were handled at this port. It holds many world
records in the area of container traffic and goods handling. The Chinese
government is giving so much emphasis on improving port infrastructure here so
that it may break its own record of handling goods.
It is connected with more than 700 ports of the world.
Its automated terminal makes it very easy for businesses to load and unload
imported and exported goods. China uses this port to exports various
manufactured items to countries like India, the USA, Russia, Franc, Japan, etc.
Sailors also stop here for umbilical offshore.
3. Guangzhou Port, China: -
It is rated as the fifth busiest port in the world since
2017. Year on year growth of this port is expected to raise post-Covid
scenario. There is a deep port called Nansha that handles more than 70 percent
volume of Guangzhou. It is nearby some major ports like Hong Kong, Busan. There
is a big market near the ports that sells lots of many sailing industry items
like electric anchor winch.
4. Busan port, South Korea: -
There is no doubt that China is the world leader in the
freight business, and it approx 5 ports in the top ten rankings. But countries
like South Korea are also doing extremely well in the port business. Busan Port
is the sixth busiest in the world. Busan city is also famous for various marine
and sailing industry products like umbilical offshore. There is more
than 10 percent growth at this port which is one of the highest growth
trajectories.
5. Port of Jebel Ali, UAE: -
This is located in Dubai and started its operations in
the year of 1979. But within 30 years, this port has proved itself.
Conclusions: - China
is doing extremely well in the port business. Besides that Singapore, Hong
Kong, Malaysia, UAE, Netherlands, Germany, USA, and India are some other
players. The next 10 years are very crucial and it is expected that some known
ports will emerge and will challenge the biggest.
